Directions:
boil a large pot of water and add salt. Add pasta and cook until just cooked.
Make sauce while it's cooking.
Melt butter in a medium pot and cook the onion (if using) until soft and transparent.
Add the flour and whisk in.
Add milk bit by bit, whisking well in between until all added.
Keep cooking stirring continuously until sauce is thick.
Add most of cheese and season with S and P.
Add cooked macaroni and any cooked or frozen veges you want.
Cooked bacon or chopped salami can be used instead of ham. Other good additions are corn or any kid of cooked vege- broccoli and cauliflower also good, or frozen mixed vege.
If baking, put into dish and sprinkle with desired topping- cheese/breadcrumbs etc. Bake at 190C until bubbling. Otherwise heat gently in pot until hot through. |
