| | Comments: | Tasty bright red beef stew that is served over rice. For Equip, we ordered cooked rice from the Chinese takeaways but now Actsvi has big rice cooker.Makee meat is purchased diced from the butcher. At Equip 2016 we made it the night before. Was delicious the following day.  |

| | | Ingredients: | | 1.00 tbsp | vegetable oil   | 1.00 | garlic (cloves)   | 1.00 kg Diced | beef chuck   | 4.00 sliced | brown onion (ea)   | 1.00 tbsp | Smoked Paprika   | 0.50 c | beef stock - liquid   | 70.00 g | tomato paste   | 1.00 tsp | salt   | 1.00 tsp | sugar   | 0.50 tsp | black pepper   | 1.00 tbsp | butter   | |
Directions:
Heat the oil and butter on the BBQ or bratpan. Fry peeled garlic for one minute.
Add beef and onions and brown well. For large amount, do in batches- can have onions cooking simultaneously in a different pot.
The browning of the meat takes quite a while but does seem to make a difference.
Stir in paprika and cook for 1 minute. Put into large pot. Add all other ingredients. Simmer for 1 1/2 - 2 hours, check it does not catch on the bottom. Or bake, covered in oven (will take longer around 3-3 1/2 hours) until meat is tender.
Could also do in slow cookers on low 8 hours- but halve the amount of liquid.
Serve over rice. |
