Directions:
oven 180 C. Cooking time will vary depending on size of the slice and whether using frozen fruit.
cream butter and sugar
add eggs beat well then add dry ingredients
spread half the pastry into a tin
top with the frozen or fresh fruit [tinned apples and frozen or fresh berries]
grate or roll out remaining pastry to cover the fruit
Bake until top is golden brown and crisp check after 40 minutes and then every 10 minutes
NB this will take longer to cook with a larger quantity - very easy to undercook. Better to make 2 thinner shortcakes than one thick one.
